Andriy Shevchenko: The Ukraine striker is struggling with a knee problem

Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko is a doubt to face England in Tuesday's crucial Euro 2012 Group D clash in Donetsk due to injury.

The 35-year old, who scored both goals in his side's 2-1 win over Sweden, missed training on Sunday due to a knee problem.

If Shevchenko fails to recover to face the Three Lions, it could spell the end of an illustrious career for the former AC Milan and Chelsea forward and his side's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the European Championship for the first time.

The player, who has scored 48 goals in his 108 appearances for Ukraine, has already stated that he will retire from international football after Euro 2012.

A Ukraine Football Association spokesman said: "Andriy suffered a kick to his knee during the second half against Sweden and then another kick in the same area against France.

"He is unable to train today and I would say he is doubtful for Tuesday.
"He has seen the doctor and is now having treatment. We hope he can still take part but I repeat, he is doubtful."

England are currently second in Group D, level on four points with leaders France, while tournament co-hosts Ukraine have three points.
